A Hotel in Flint, MI

A Hotel in Flint, MI

This has to be the most bizarre hotel I've ever stayed in. My company was doing a seminar there and we usually stay at the same hotel the seminar's at. This one had some interesting issues including the fact that there was no network or cable TV other than the news channels. No CBS, no Fox, no NBC, etc. They did have reruns of Little House on the Prairie, The Waltons and some other western type show that I didn't recognize. They also had signs posted about liquor and smoking being banned. The hotel was clearly a Christian-run hotel for Christian travelers. As near as I can tell, I was the only guest they had (how ironic). I did NOT strip the bed and I left the towels on the floor. Nyah, nyah, nyah.

Wray - Imenson Cemetery in Spring Grove, Illinois

Kate's genealogical research took us to this sad and forgotten cemetery. As you can see, the place has become completely overgrown and many of the markers have fallen over.

"Well, the crabapples are finished for the year."

"Well, the crabapples are finished for the year."

Last night, we had a spectacular thunderstorm roar through our little corner of the world. I don't remember the winds as being too bad, but the rain was apocalyptic. The deluge pretty much denuded our crabapples, which had been in all of their blooming glory.

As we were leaving this morning, I noticed this scene in our neighbor's yard. I had to stop to photograph it. Kate was in a hurry, but I had to. I'll never see again, in my lifetime, the combination of freshly mowed grass, new mulch, early morning sun, and a carpet of crabapple petals.

Until next spring.

Wanna see my wife's tomatoes?

This is another one of my pictures that is getting regular views of 20 or so per day. Evidently some folks are searching google for something like "see my wife" and have come across this link thinking they're going to see some other kind of tomatoes.
